Alright, I think that's it
by Alex on Mar.05, 2009, under Site Stuff
Sorry guys, I think this site needs a major overhaul to get things moving again, and that’s just something I can’t provide right now. We’ve seriously only received one new article in the last three days, and I just can’t seem to find any way to keep them coming in. I guess the only way to get things moving again is to get some money going.
This site is now on hold until further notice. The same applies to the XBox contest. Feel free to send me questions or post your thoughts in the forum.

So uh.. well this sucks
Can we still send articles into the pending review section?

Like Peter said, can we still submit articles? If they’re not going to be published, it will at least be a nice buildup once the site gets back on track.
I haven’t been able to write for the past few days because of school.

Yeah, you guys can still submit articles if you want, I just won’t be publishing any for awhile.
If we get a nice buildup of good articles, I’ll start publishing them, but the four per day rule is out the window for now.

Most blogs only have one post every few days or so, or I don’t understand what all this fuss is about.

I meant to say “so I don’t understand what all this fuss is about.”

@Josh, I think Alex aspires to more than “a blog”. It’s difficult to keep up a constant stream of readers without a constant stream of content.
Advertisers want to know that they are getting decent imprints for their money and without the viewer numbers to back it up you won’t get advertising dollars. It’s also hard to get review copies of games without a good amount of guaranteed views.
One of the problems is that this site isn’t focusing on ‘news’ type articles. Opinion pieces are great, it’s one of the things that attracted me here, but it’s hard for a writer to write one once a day, and your average gamer doesn’t want a constant stream of opinion. They want news and reviews about the latest games mixed in with a few opinion pieces. However, most site operators don’t want to just republish the news that the big sites already published.
So that puts small sites in a bind. They either languish in anonymity, or they buckle and start catering to the ADD crowd. I closed my site for these very reasons. At least Alex has other writers, I couldn’t get any help and one person cannot do it by themselves.
