Cool console basing, Hycran.

There weren't a ton of Necromorphs on screen at any one time. Not counting the tiny little baby ones I remember the most at once being 7 or 8. The Wii can handle that and if EA somehow messes the monster count it can still be balanced by increasing difficulty of enemies. Before you offer the cop out "Wii = easy" remember the target audience for this game isn't "casual". Besides Resident Evil 4 had more bad guys on screen at any one time than Dead Space!

Dead Rising CTYD seems pitiful compared its predecessor because zombie hordes were what made it fun. Dead Space isn't about slogging through several dozen monsters, it's focus is trying to solve puzzles with limited resources and surviving surprise monster attacks.

tl;dr
Sandbox Zombie Game != Haunted House in Space
