First Contributor Contest
by Alex on Dec.04, 2008, under Site Stuff
Hey guys, it’s me.
You know, I’m really happy with how this site is coming along. What started as a random idea in my head in the middle of the night has turned into a fantastic blag with dozens of articles, over a hundred contributors, and a slowly growing forum that I’m sure will take off at some point. I’m convinced that this site has the potential to really grow into something amazing, and it’s all thanks to you.
So, to show my appreciation, I’ve decided to have a little contest. For the entire month of December, any time a writer gets an article published, he will receive one entry into the contest. At the end of the month, I’ll pick one of those entries (using a random number generator of course) and declare a winner.
Addendum: If you’d like to enter this contest, but can’t seem to get an article published, you can get entries in one other way. If you’re an active member of a gaming-related forum, all you have to do is stick this in your signature:
Gamer Blag! – For Gamers, by Gamers
Once you’ve done that, contact me with a link to one of your posts. After I confirm, you’ll get an entry into the contest.
Here’s the prize:

Those are boxed copies of Final Fantasy 4, 5, and 6 for the Super Famicom. Dunno if we have any collectors out there, but hopefully someone will think this is cool.
Anyway, keep up the good work. I’ll declare a winner on January 1st.

Awesome! I’d better get cracking on those articles.

mmmmm….
I like where this is going…
I’m gonna start writing too!

Does the first place winner get all three or will he just have first pick while the other two are awarded to 2nd and 3rd?
December 4th, 2008 on 9:49 pm
All 3 go to one winner.

Can I peacefully forfeit?
I’d hate to take the prize that a collector would truly love.

Oh wow this is cool as hell. Thanks for the chance to win this, Alex!
December 4th, 2008 on 11:15 pm
How did you get your hands on these in the first place?
December 4th, 2008 on 11:17 pm
How often do you read through the articles? I submitted a review for Okami a day or so ago, and it’s still waiting to be published.
December 4th, 2008 on 11:17 pm
A friend of mine teaches English in Japan. Sent me a whole box full of games.
December 4th, 2008 on 11:17 pm
I read through articles every day, but I only publish 4 per day.
December 4th, 2008 on 11:51 pm
OH GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD
Do want…
Time to write.
December 5th, 2008 on 4:50 am
I pissed myself.
Hey Alex, are you still doing the thing where you change articles to unpublished if you’ve read them but don’t plan on publishing?
December 5th, 2008 on 10:13 am
Yeah, how am I supposed to know if my article is gonna get published or not? It’s been sitting there for 2 or 3 days now. Is there any way to let people know if you don’t plan on publishing their article?
December 5th, 2008 on 12:04 pm
Ah man Alex that`s generous, really. Can you exclude me from the contest since I live in Europe and don`t own a SNES?
December 7th, 2008 on 9:03 pm
I think what should be done is Alex should draw 5 names, then people can say whether they want it or not, the names that want it go in for a second draw and winner gets it. How’s that?

A question: And If The Writer is Foreign? I live in Brazil, and the taxes of games here are HUGE, so if won this if you shipped more than one of these games in a box they would be taxed, so, would it be possible to me to only choose one, and you give the other 2 to another writer?
