March Contest – Win an XBox 360 Pro

by Alex on Feb.28, 2009, under Site Stuff

CONTEST CURRENTLY ON HOLD. WILL RESUME IF WE EVER GET SOME ARTICLES GOING AGAIN.

It’s become clear to me that this site needs a serious kick in the ribs to get it going again. We’re pretty much we are out of articles, so drastic action is needed to keep this place from going belly up.  So, to cut right to the point, I’ve decided to have another contest.  Nothing lame this time though, I’m giving away one of these:

No, not a jpeg, an Xbox 360 Pro.

No, not a jpeg. An Xbox 360 Pro.

Yep, a brand new XBox 360 Pro.  Don’t look at me like that, I know I haven’t gone out and bought it yet (you’ll get a real picture when I do).  I want to make sure that people actually participate this time before buying the prize.  Also, I’m afraid this contest will be limited to participants in the US and Canada only (sorry guys, it’s expensive to ship overseas).

If you already own a 360 and you end up winning the contest, you can choose to receive a Wii instead (if I can actually find one, that is).  I honestly don’t know why anybody would want one though (that’s coming from someone who owns one).

So, how do you go about winning?  Here are the rules:

  • Contest will run all throughout the month of March.
  • Winner will be determined by a raffle ticket system.
  • Create a new topic on a forum plugging this contest, get one ticket (please leave a comment on this post with a link to the post).  Limit one ticket per forum.
  • Create a 100+ word blog post linking to this contest, get one ticket (please leave a comment on this post with a link to the post).  Limit one ticket per blog.
  • Get an article published in March, get five tickets per article (that’s published, not submitted).
  • I will contact the winner sometime in early April.  You have 5 days to answer me, or I will pick a new winner.  Once I’ve gotten things squared away with the winner, I will send them the prize.

So yeah, get the word out about the contest and write me some articles.  You may end up with a new console.

I’m in Canada. That’s not overseas is it?

  2. Alex

You make a good point. I changed the post to reflect that I’ll accept entries from Canada too.

  3. Spider-X

I have a friend who is an editor for this site, will he be able to participate?

  4. Alex

Yeah sure. Don’t see why not.

  5. Peter

Spider follows a smooth line of questioning.
    Any runner up prizes?

  6. Alex

Nope, just the first place prize.

  7. NovaSyx

    Theory

Would a European be able to get the monetary equivalent of an Xbox 360 Pro so he could purchase it himself?

  8. Spider-X

    @NovaSyx
Sure, since according to Valve 1 dollar = 1 Euro

  9. Spider-X

Of course I HAVE NO SAY IN THAT so don’t mind me.

  10. Hycran

protip: it would be cheaper to buy a new xbox 360 and ship it then to mail you the money nova

  11. TwistedFate

I have a blog post written, but I’m waiting until March is official to publish it.

Now if I just had ideas for articles to write for here.

  12. NovaSyx

    In that case

I will pay for shipping myself! If Alex agrees that is.

    @ TwistedFate
Getting an idea for an article is as easy as remembering what games you had fun playing.

  15. TwistedFate

Nope, I refuse to retro review. I don’t see the point in it. I enjoyed those games when I played them, but they are better left in the past where the shine of memory makes them more seem glorious than they actually were.

If this were a retro/historical site, I might have a different view.

  16. Peter

Well I wasn’t referring to a retro review, it could be lessons from the past we could apply to the future, trends that have died out. Just reflecting upon the past brings up tons of topics.

  17. Mace

The chance at a free XBox 360 you say!? Well then!

I’m just going to have to make more time to work on articles and spread word.
