One of the best Sonic games ever. Remade!

One of the best Sonic games ever. Remade!

I’ve always been a pretty big Nintendrone, and I know that the picture to the left has probably just lost me a lot of potential readers, especially after that whole “Sonic Team hates Sonic” stuff.

But, have I told you to get a bad game yet?

Anyway…

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle/Adventure DX

These games were originally on the Dreamcast… That beautiful failure. Even though it was the easiest thing to pirate games on, it had some of the best games I’ve seen in a long, long time. The Sonic Adventure games were  certainly one of those golden games. In the first, you play as Sonic, Tails,  Knuckles, Big the cat, Amy Rose and E-102 Gamma. In the second, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Rouge and Eggman. The gameplay for Sonic and Knuckles is the same style as the first, Shadow and Rouge borrow Sonic and Knuckle’s gameplay, respectivly. Eggman and Tails are in walking mechs, a little different than how Tails played in the last game. Anyway, in Adventure DX, the story is Sonic and friends have to stop Eggman from raising Chaos to his perfect form with the Chaos Emeralds, and in Adventure 2 Battle, they have to stop Eggman from blowing up the world with the cannon aboard the ARK space station. If you like Sonic at all, if you like fast paced games at all then pick these babies up. The gameplay is solid and the final bosses will blow your mind from the awesome they create. Live and Learn, baby.

Metroid Prime

A very interesting turn for the Metroid games. These games are first person shooters, as opposed to the sidescrolling goodness of every other Metroid game before it. Luckily, the FPS formula worked well for Prime. You play as Samus Aran, you land on a planet and as tradition goes you proceed to lose every single power you have. AWESOME.

So, you go through this game, get your powers and suits back and through this learn that Space Pirates are mining this super deadly goop called PHAZON that’s more radioactive than Vault 87’s entrance, but can be used to make awesome weapons, and in fact suits that can protect one from the PHAZON radiation. You gotta stop the Space Pirates and kill the Metroid Prime, a Metroid(That we thought we killed off in like… Every Metroid game ever, but they seem to always come back) that sucked up some PHAZON and mutated like crazy. PHAZON is in the entire Metroid Prime series, but it really takes it’s best role here, in my opinion. I didn’t finish Corruption, but Echoes sucked major ass.

Remember kids, this game is for the Gamecube only. I had someone ask me if they could get this on the PS2 and I almost punched them.

Almost.

Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg

This has got to be one of the most drug induced ideas ever. It’s okay, though. It’s awesome. You play as Billy and his pals in a place called Morning Land, inhabited mainly by birds and fowls. The Chicken Elders have been kidnapped and imprisioned in giant eggs, and Billy has to hatch them free! Billy and each of his buddies wear this chicken suit things that give them the ability to hatch these eggs and get power ups.

You can find rooster doodles around, grab them and get cool powers for protecting your egg so it doesn’t break and speaking of the eggs… So, in order to hatch them, you roll over fruit in magic bubbles. Your eggs can hatch into helper animals, characters from previous Sonic Team games, power ups or collectibles. You can break the eggs, too, I might add, but only from enemy/painful obstacle attacks. You can attack with the eggs by running over enemies with a quick burst of speed, or jumping and slamming that sucker down. You can also ride on top of them to get over some obstacles and WATER. Water will kill you. Kill you dead. Either way, this game is a  blast. Pick it up for a hell of a good time and some questioning of what was going through Sonic Team’s heads (or crack pipes) when they made this game.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

At first I was gonna put Double Dash here, but everyone knows Mario Kart is good… so I’m doin’ this instead. In Paper Mario, you have a simplistic RPG. A damn good one, too. You play as Mario and his partners. I think you can get six, plus a seventh one, Miss Mowz, if you do some shit. Anyway, this games simplicity and humor are it’s strong points.  Leveling up takes 100 “Star Points”, and the more you level, the less certain enemies will give you. The battle system is turn based, as well as the cool “Sneak attack” thing that you can do in the overworld. Hit them with your hammer or jump on them and do some damage before battle even starts. There’s also a crowd, do stylish moves with good timing and you get more people and do more damage.

So, you gotta get the 7 Crystal Stars before/from these aliens the X-Nauts.  They’re all viciously incompetent except for the higher ups, who usually end up being bosses. You can play as Princess Peach, who is kidnapped and pampered by the X-Nauts. Through out the game, she teaches the computer about the X-Naut ship to have feelings and answers questions about life for it. This game is hilarious and easy to pick up. I highly recommend it… but what game would I tell you about in here that I wouldn’t?

Alright, now that I’m done with this I’m going to bed.

Till next time~
