Can someone tell me why they like Guitar Hero World Tour over Rock Band 2?

by cikesef on Feb.08, 2009, under Consoles, PS3, Wii, xbox 360

It's like how people don't know there were final fantasies before VII

I just can’t see it. Really.

I mean, I look at Rock Band, and I look at Guitar Hero, and I can’t help but feel that Rock Band beats the other in every way. And I’m not even talking about the music each one contains.

I look at the interface of the general gameplay, and it really boils down to lines versus circles. I can understand why the original Guitar Hero used circles back in 2005, too. With the power of the PS2 and the quality of the video being output, circles give the most accurate representation of the timing while still being able to be seen by the player. (Coincidentally, this is why I think Rock Band AND Guitar Hero look terrible on the PS2 now that it’s just a port.) But because of the newer generation of systems, the horizontal notes work so much better and give the BEST visual cue to the song’s timing (provided you calibrate your system). I can’t understand why people would prefer Guitar Hero’s circles.

Call of Duty 4… 2? GH5 and new Tony Hawk's also confirmed.

by NovaSyx on Dec.27, 2008, under Developers, News, Nintendo DS, PC, PS3, Wii, xbox 360

Activision have just announced at an in-game Ad Conference that the sixth iteration of the massively successful Call of Duty franchise will be a sequel to Modern Warfare, released November 2007. Activision also announced the ingeniously named Guitar Hero 5, and an as yet unnamed new Tony Hawk’s game.

Previously Infinity Ward have confirmed that the sequel to World at War would not be in the hands of Treyarch, but it also – somewhat more thankfully – confirms that the sequel wouldn’t be the rumoured Sci-Fi game many of us were fearing. It was also dated for Fall 2009 (Autumn to us over here in Europe.)

Details on the whole were scarce, with the only real information being about the next Tony Hawk’s game.“You’re not going to be playing this game with a controller in your hands,” said the company. The new Tony Hawk’s arrives on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and DS by the end of fiscal year 2010.

Five Great Replacements for the Holiday Blockbusters

by kamatacci on Dec.11, 2008, under Consoles, PC, PS2, PS3, XBox, xbox 360

The Holidays are here, and all the worthwhile game companies have made sure that their biggest blockbusters are on the shelves just in time for Christmas, Hanukah, Ramadan (we are a few months late, but still), or for whatever reason people may want to buy games for. However, biggest doesn’t necessarily mean best, and it definitely doesn’t mean original. If you can’t get that special someone the game they want, here are a few great substitutes. Or maybe you can’t get enough of your favorite game? Or maybe you are just too full of yourself to play the mainstream games, even though you really want to. Or maybe you rather buy five games for the price of one. Whatever the reason, here they are.
