by Vahnikopa on Mar.08, 2009, under News, Nintendo DS
To all the Pokémon fans out there, Toys R Us will be giving out a level 100 Regigigas via wifi. This will last from March 8th to March 21st so you folks out there got two weeks to go out and get it. This is to go along with the Pokémon Platinum release that is coming out on March 22nd. As with Pokémon Pearl and Diamond, there is a chance to get Regigigas if you have obtain Regice, Regirock, and Registeel but with Platinum coming out, if you trade Regigigas into Platinum, apparently it reverses and you are able to catch the three Regi-Pokémon and get the platinum version of Regigigas as well.
Play These Games: RPG Edition 2

What’s that? More RPGs? Alright, alright… I’ve got more RPGs for yah. Sit back, relax and prepare for some good ones!
Etrian Odyssey 1 & 2
I’m not gonna lie to you. If you want a challenge, if you want a serious RPG, then this is the game for you. There aren’t flashy graphics, there are only stats, items, monsters and a very cool map-making system. You and your party of adventurers goes down into a dungeon few go into to find the treasure. You can pick classes, have as many members as you want. but can only carry a few around. The monsters get viciously difficult to kill very quickly. The battle system is your standard turns based on speed/surprise factor. Lots of fun, but I’m warning you now: Almost as addictive as an MMO(but so much cheaper!). I thoroughly enjoyed them, even if the god damn F.O.E.s obliterated me for days.

Pokémon, a gameboy retrospective 1/4
by lordcanti493 on Jan.23, 2009, under Game Boy, Old but Awesome, Review

Ahh Pokémon, the wonderful little Gameboy RPG that helped spark a franchise of toys, trading cards, anime, books and manga. In this article I’m going to go over the Red, Blue, and Yellow versions of Pokémon.
The Pokémon game franchise Began in Japan in 1996, and made its way to America in 1998 with versions Red and Blue, which introduced the first generation of Pokémon. The game was developed by Game Freak, which it still is today, and was Published by Nintendo. Later in ‘98, and ‘99 for Europe and Australia, Pokémon Yellow was released, featuring a few different and new elements to the game, but I’ll get to that in a bit.
Pokémon game play included an overhead view, like that of the Legend of Zelda games, battles, a vast world to explore, and the ability to trade Pokémon with friends. The battle system was turn based, like that of Final Fantasy, and gave you options to attack, use an item, switch out your Pokémon with one in your party, or run away from the battle.

Gamer Story: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl Launch Party *NSFW*
by KING Tripfag on Jan.01, 2009, under Nintendo DS, Old but Awesome, Opinions, Rant
For the launch of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, I took a train down to the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center for their launch festivities. I arrived a tiny bit late, as there were about a clean 100 people in front of me (in the line that was outside of the building, anyway). Most of us bided the time by playing DS games with eachother (Except for me. I’m not nearly social enough.)

The first guy on line (A man who is named “Jack Smith” according to 1up, who waited up all night, that fucker) came out of the store and walked up the line, showing off the two games he got, along with the signed copy of Diamond. You see, if you were one of the first people to pre-order and buy both of the Pokemon games, you got your choice of:
A) Mets tickets.
B) Dinner at the top of the Empire State Building.
C) A signed copy of one of the games.
While he took the stupid prize, one guy opted for the Mets tickets. The only problem was, he didn’t like Baseball. So what did this glorious fucker do? He walked straight up the line, asking people if they were Baseball fans. He gave the tickets to the first kid to say yes. You have to hand it to Pokemon fans. They may be creepy, but they’re pretty good people, deep down under the pathetic.
